The Experience

Before You Go

Bring a change of clothes

You’ll end the tour with a cenote swim; pack a swimsuit and a dry set of clothes to stay comfortable for the return transfer.

Closed-toe shoes only

Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required for horseback, ATV riding and the zipline platforms — sandals are not permitted.

Driver’s license if you plan to drive

ATV drivers 18+ must present a valid driver’s license and adhere to weight/waist limits — bring your ID if you intend to operate an ATV.

Hydrate and pace yourself

Tropical heat and physical elements add up; carry water and take advantage of rest stops to avoid overheating and fatigue.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Quiet observation points near the polo club where local birdlife is active in early morning
  • A shallow ledge at the cenote ideal for snorkeling and watching fish beneath overhanging roots

Wildlife

  • Green iguana
  • Tropical kingbird (and other small passerines)

Conservation Note

Cenotes are part of a fragile aquifer system—avoid sunscreens that aren’t biodegradable and follow guide instructions to minimize impact.

The Yucatán’s cenotes were vital freshwater sources for Maya communities and later shaped settlement patterns; polo and equestrian culture arrived with colonial ranching traditions.
