The Experience

Before You Go

Arrive early

Be at Awesome Flight Cozumel 15 minutes before your scheduled time to complete check-in and safety briefing.

Wear closed-toe shoes

Sturdy sneakers protect your feet on platforms and while climbing to launch points.

Secure loose items

Leave large cameras and jewelry in the locker provided; bring a small chest camera only if instructed by guides.

Hydrate and sun-protect

Bring sunscreen and drink water before the tour—purified water is supplied but island heat builds quickly.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • El Cedral historic village and small archaeological site for a quick cultural stop
  • South-coast rocky beaches near Punta Sur for quieter shore views and local fishing boats

Wildlife

  • Green iguanas sunning on branches
  • Tropical birds such as frigatebirds and kingfishers

Conservation Note

The island protects surrounding coral reefs through marine parks and regulations; visitors should avoid touching reef and use reef-safe sunscreen when swimming.

Cozumel was a major pilgrimage site for the Maya who came to honor Ixchel; the island’s limestone and coral geology shaped both its ecosystem and early settlements.
