The Experience

Before You Go

Hydrate before and during the tour

Bring at least 1–2 liters of water; humid jungle heat and physical exertion on ATVs and ziplines increase dehydration risk.

Wear closed-toe, grippy shoes

ATV trails are muddy and uneven—trail runners or hiking shoes with good traction protect your feet and improve control.

Respect weight and age limits

Maximum weight is 130 kg (286 lb); drivers must be 18+ for single ATVs (16+ with adult) — staff will enforce these rules for safety.

Use reef-safe sunscreen and insect repellent

Biodegradable sunscreen protects the cenote ecosystem; apply repellent sparingly before boarding vehicles and ziplines.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Walk short mangrove trails near Puerto Morelos before the park visit for quiet birdwatching.
  • Small roadside stands near the park sell fresh fruit agua frescas and local pastries—perfect for a post-tour snack.

Wildlife

  • Green iguanas
  • Coatimundi

Conservation Note

Cenote ecosystems are fragile—use biodegradable products, avoid touching stalactites, and follow guide instructions to minimize impact.

Many cenotes were sacred to the Maya as freshwater sources and ceremonial sites; modern parks sit atop this karst landscape shaped over millennia.
