The Experience

Before You Go

Wear closed-toe shoes

Trainers or hiking shoes give grip on the ladders and landings; no sandals or flip-flops are permitted on the course.

Pack light or leave valuables

Loose items (phones, wallets, cameras) aren’t allowed on lines—use a tether if you must take a camera or leave items at your hotel.

Time it for cooler wind

Mid-morning or late afternoon usually has calmer winds and softer light for photos—avoid midday heat when possible.

Know the weight and age limits

Participants must be 6–60 years old and under 110 kg (242 lbs); the limit is enforced for safety and equipment integrity.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Brief viewpoint near the mid-course landing with unobstructed Gulf views
  • A short forest path below the course where local banana and heliconia plants thrive

Wildlife

  • White-bellied sea eagle (occasionally overhead)
  • Common treeshrew or small monitor lizards along the trail

Conservation Note

Operators often limit group sizes and maintain marked trails to reduce erosion; visitors should avoid leaving waste and follow guide instructions to protect fragile understory and bird habitat.

Koh Samui developed from fishing and coconut farming into a tourist destination in the late 20th century; adventure operators now use inland ridges carved by ancient volcanic activity.
